Location, History and Character of Malinska

The name Malinska is derived from the Croatian word “Mlin” (mill). The development of the town began in the 15th century with the construction of a mill. Later, Malinska was used as a harbor, including for timber export. With the arrival of steamships in the 19th century, the town developed into a spa and holiday destination.

Today, Malinska is known for its coastal location, its sheltered bay, and the surrounding vegetation of the Dubašnica region. Along the coast, promenades and walking paths connect different parts of the town and its beaches. One well-known walking path is the so-called Paradise Path (“Rajski put”), which runs along the coastline. The town offers a combination of tourist infrastructure, nature, and direct access to the sea.
