During winter, temperatures usually drop to around 10–13°C. Around Krk, the sea is generally calm, but local winds such as the Bora and Maestral can influence surface conditions and create waves or currents.

The water quality around Krk is considered excellent and is regularly monitored. Many beaches are known for their cleanliness and natural surroundings. Visibility underwater is often very high, commonly reaching between 10 and 25 meters, which makes the area ideal for snorkeling and diving. The seabed is mostly rocky or pebbled, contributing to the clear water but requiring water shoes in some places.

Compared to other seas, the Adriatic is less salty than the open ocean but clearer than many sandy coastal regions. Due to the lack of large tides, water levels remain relatively stable. These conditions create a safe and pleasant environment for swimming, water sports and relaxation.
