🇬🇧 This demanding cycling route takes you from Baška up to one of the most surreal landscapes on Krk – the Moon Plateau. Designed mainly for mountain bikers, it’s a challenging ride with unforgettable views.
Starting in the centre of Baška, the trail climbs steadily through pine forests towards the plateau. Before you begin, it’s worth stopping at the viewpoint near the Church of St John the Baptist for a first panoramic view over the valley and Vela Plaža.
As you gain altitude, the landscape transforms into a rocky, almost lunar environment shaped by strong winds and nature. From the top, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views over Baška Valley, the Adriatic Sea, the Velebit mountains and nearby islands.
Along the way, you’ll pass traditional dry stone walls, grazing sheep, old wells and the characteristic stone sheepfolds known as mrgari – a unique example of local heritage and life on the island.
After the plateau, the route descends through vineyards and pastures before reaching the Mošuna area, where you can take a break. The return leads partly along the main road and then off road following the Vela Rika stream back to Baška.

🇩🇪 Diese anspruchsvolle Route führt dich von Baška auf das beeindruckende Mondplateau – eine der außergewöhnlichsten Landschaften der Insel Krk. Sie ist vor allem für Mountainbiker geeignet und bietet spektakuläre Ausblicke.
Start ist im Zentrum von Baška, von wo aus es durch Pinienwälder stetig bergauf geht. Vor dem Start lohnt sich ein kurzer Stopp am Aussichtspunkt bei der Kirche St. Johannes der Täufer.
Mit zunehmender Höhe verändert sich die Landschaft zu einer kargen, fast mondähnlichen Umgebung, geformt durch Wind und Naturkräfte. Oben erwarten dich beeindruckende Ausblicke auf das Baška-Tal, das Meer, das Velebit-Gebirge und die umliegenden Inseln.
Unterwegs siehst du Trockensteinmauern, Schafe, alte Brunnen und die typischen Steinkonstruktionen „Mrgari“, die das traditionelle Inselleben widerspiegeln.
Nach dem Plateau führt die Strecke bergab durch Weinberge und Wiesen. Am Mošuna kannst du eine Pause einlegen, bevor es über Straße und Offroad entlang der Vela Rika zurück nach Baška geht.

🇭🇷 Ova zahtjevna biciklistička ruta vodi iz Baške do Mjesečevog platoa, jedne od najposebnijih lokacija na otoku Krku. Namijenjena je uglavnom brdskim biciklistima i pruža nezaboravne poglede.
Ruta počinje u centru Baške i vodi uzbrdo kroz borovu šumu. Prije početka vrijedi stati kod crkve sv. Ivana Krstitelja i uživati u pogledu.
Kako se penješ, krajolik postaje kamenit i nalik mjesečevoj površini, oblikovan vjetrom i prirodom. S vrha se pruža pogled na Bašćansku dolinu, more, Velebit i okolne otoke.
Putem prolaziš uz suhozide, ovce, stare bunare i tradicionalne mrgare koji prikazuju način života na otoku.
Nakon platoa slijedi spust kroz vinograde i pašnjake. Kod Mošune možeš napraviti pauzu prije povratka u Bašku uz cestu i stazu uz Velu Riku.
