🇬🇧 The Church of St John above Baška is one of the most beautiful viewpoints on the island. Located on a hill northeast of the town, it offers a stunning panoramic view over Baška, Vela Plaža and the surrounding islands.

From the plateau in front of the church, you get a wide open view that makes this spot perfect for photos, especially at sunrise or sunset.

The church itself has a long history. In the Middle Ages, it was the first parish church of the old Baška settlement. Its bell tower still holds a historic bell from 1431, known as Starac. Nearby, you can also find the remains of the old fortress, adding to the special atmosphere of this place.

Die Kirche selbst hat eine lange Geschichte. Im Mittelalter war sie die erste Pfarrkirche der Burg Baška. Im Glockenturm befindet sich noch heute die Glocke „Starac“ aus dem Jahr 1431. In der Nähe liegen außerdem die Überreste der alten Burg.
