SENSA Cheese Festival Malinska 2026 is a traditional cultural and gastronomic event held in Malinska and the Dubašnica area on Krk Island, Croatia. This unique cheese festival is rooted in one of the oldest and most valued local customs known as “teć za sir” (the run for cheese) and represents an important part of the region’s cultural heritage and pastoral traditions.
SENSA in Malinska reflects the deep connection between the local community, nature, agriculture and a traditional way of life that has shaped Dubašnica for centuries. The name of the festival comes from an old custom linked to the Feast of the Ascension, when cheese is blessed in the parish church of St. Apollinaris in Bogovići. After the mass, a traditional race of young men called teć za sir takes place, symbolising unity, joy and the preservation of long-standing local traditions.
Over several days, SENSA 2026 brings a lively festival atmosphere to the centre of Malinska as well as nearby squares and parks. Visitors can experience a rich selection of authentic local products, from traditional cheeses and lamb dishes to local wines, handmade crafts and regional gastronomic specialities prepared by local restaurants and producers.
